Strategy 2021-2025 for Department of Ecoscience

The strategy is written in close collaboration between the department's staff and management. In recent years, the department has undergone major changes, where we have gone from a large department, which was merged with the current Department of Biology, to an independent department. In continuation of the split, the department also changed head of department.
The work on an department strategy was thus initiated already in the spring of 2020, where the department's sections formulated strategies for their work, including analyzes of strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities as well as future needs, and the management began on initial background analyzes. During 2020, Aarhus University came up with a new strategy for the university. Work on our strategy was restarted in the winter of 2020/2021, where the management prepared a draft based on the sections' input and background analyzes and considering the framework within the university's new strategy. This new draft strategy was presented to the department's section leaders in the spring of 2021 and then sent in for consultation in the respective sections. Finally, it was discussed in the extended management after the summer of 2021 and published October 8, 2021.

The strategy in context

The strategy is accompanied by a few internal documents to support and anchor the department in implementing its vision and goals:

More supporting documents will follow as the implementation progresses.

To ensure the connection between Ecoscience’s strategy further up at both faculty and university level, there is a direct correlation between the goals presented in this strategy and the targets in Technical Sciences’ Strategy 2025 (to be published ultimo 2021) and Aarhus University’s Strategy 2025.
